Statistics

Statistics are created with WordPress JetPack, a product of Automattic.com and Google Analytics.

WordPress JetPack keeps the following data:
IP address, WordPress.com user ID (if logged in), WordPress.com username (if logged in), user agent, visiting URL, referring URL, timestamp of event, browser language, country code. Displayed posts and pages, videos played (if videos are hosted by WordPress.com), clicks on outbound links, referring URLs and search engine terms and country.
More info and how the data is used can be found at https://automattic.com/privacy/.

Google Analytics is used for both statistics and as advertisements, if you allow it via the Cookies.

More information on what Google Analytics collects, and how it is further used can be found at https://policies.google.com/privacy#infocollect.

Comments

When visitors leave messages on the site, we collect the data shown in the form, the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent to help detect spam.

An anonymised string created from your e-mail address (this is also called a hash) can be sent to the Gravatar service if you use it. The privacy policy page of the Gravatar service can be found here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is publicly visible in the context of your comment.

Cookies

When you leave a message on our site, you can specify whether your name, email address and site may be stored in a cookie. We do this for your convenience so you don’t have to re-enter these details for a new comment. These cookies are valid for one year.

When you edit or publish a post, an additional cookie is stored by your browser. This cookie contains no personal data and only holds the post ID of the article you edited. This cookie expires after one day.

Management of the Cookies themselves is provided by CookieYes. Their Privacy Policy can be found at Privacy Policy – CookieYes

Embedded content from other sites

Posts on this site may contain embedded content (e.g. videos, images, messages, etc.). Embedded content from other sites behaves exactly as if the visitor had visited this other site.

These sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking and monitor your interaction with this embedded content, including recording your interaction with embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that site.

Registrations

Subscriptions are carried out using Formidable Forms and payments are processed using Stripe.

The privacy policy, which we also endorse, can be found on Stripe.

Generally aggregated or anonymised data is shared with specific partners such as Wandelsport Vlaanderen and IML. This is information such as the number of walkers by club, walkers by nationality or statistics by age.

Mailing

Mailings and data management for mailings is provided by MooSend.

Moosend’s Privacy Policy can be found at Sitecore Privacy Policy | Sitecore.

With whom we share your data

Data you leave on this site, including via the web form, will not be shared with third parties. Only members of the non-profit association’s board have access to the information.

How long we keep your data

Comments

When you leave a comment, that comment and the metadata of that comment is saved forever. This way, we can automatically recognise and approve follow-up comments instead of having to moderate them.

Registration

Registration details will be kept, as entered, for an unlimited period of time. This is for the sake of static purposes (determining how many participations, distances, club information, etc).

Mailing

The data used to manage the mailings, both direct personal data and statistical data, are kept until they are no longer needed.

Personal data can be deleted after unsubscribing. Only the direct identifier (e-mail address) is retained to manage unsubscribing.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or you have left comments, you can request an export file of your personal data that we hold about you, including all the data you have given us. You can also request that we delete any personal data we hold about you. This does not include data that we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor responses may be monitored through an automated spam detection service.

Furthermore, we also use some other services to manage the site properly such as:

If you use to share messages via social media, you agree to the privacy policies of the relevant sites and linked services.
